According to Builder online magazine, one of the top ten design trends of 2011 was green roofs. If you are not familiar with the term green roof, it is the term coined for “a roof of a building that is partially or completely covered with vegetation and a growing medium, planted over a waterproofing membrane. It may also include additional layers such as a root barrier and drainage and irrigation systems. “ – 

It is becoming so popular that commercial and residential properties alike are requesting it more and more. These green roofs are great for kitchen gardens, community gardens and common areas where employees in urban environments can enjoy a green retreat. There are even restaurants that utilize roof gardens for fresher ingredients.
