Protect backflow device from an early freeze

protect backflow device from freezeDon’t get caught off guard this winter, Colorado. Before you get your sprinkler system winterized. Here are two precautions you can take to protect your backflow device from an early freeze after you have stopped watering your landscape and right before winter has arrived:

1. Make sure the valve handle is turned at a 45 degree angle.

2. Wrap the backflow device in a towel.

3. Then wrap everything in a plastic bag secured with tape.

The backflow needs to be drained in order to make sure no water is left inside. Contact Ryan at Lifescape Colorado at 303-974-6315 if you don’t know how to drain the backflow. Once you have drained the water, your sprinkler system will not be operational and that’s when you are ready to have your sprinkler system winterized.
